As the teams approach the first round of playoffs, scheduled for August 17 and for the final tournament on Saturday August 20 2011; Graffiti Art is on fire winning 3 games and posting an additional tie in the last month. Dentistry on Main continues to lead the four pack with 9 wins and 1 loss for the season. OPSEU and Scott's R & S Heating are tightening the play by producing great opportunities in front of their opposing teams goal nets. Turnout has been excellent this season and teams appear to have great participation from the club members. As we continue towards the playoffs, all teams continue to develop and demonstrate team play throughout their rosters. Good luck to all the players and coaches and it is good to see that everyone enjoys their time on and off the pitch. What's life without goals; "Play Soccer" Friday, June 24

Coaching and Refereeing are such huge opportunities to mentor kids playing the game. Our club welcomes adults and youth who can volunteer their time to coach which keeps our kids playing. Maybe you have always wanted a cool uniform and an official whistle as a Ref?? You think you know the rules? Give it your best shot and learn free to be a Referee! Get paid or opt for community hours - talk about respect!Coaching & Refereeing:With the development of the Youth League and the over 21 travelling teams there are many opportunities for members to get involved. The club is willing to sponsor members (youth and adult) who wish to develop coaching skills through clinics and certification. Contact Philip Stoesser at 534-4956 if interested in coaching for the club. The
H.D.S.A. encourages its participating clubs to expand the referee pool
in the area. The club is willing to sponsor members (youth and adult)
who wish to develop refereeing skills through clinics and
certification. The standard fees for a SCYSL game are $50xx for referee and $25xx for touch judges. If interested contact Bill van Rijn at 549-4824. Uniforms: In order to bring more uniformity to the league we are requesting that all players wear shin pads, black shorts and black socks. We encourage everyone who received a Huronia Soccer Club T-shirt and sticker at last year's tournament to proudly promote our club around town!!

Our 2009 soccer season had all-too-quickly finished this weekend, but it is safe to say that all our youth and adult members played hard this summer and made this another successful Huronia Soccer season. Our annual tournament to mark the end of the season was played August 22 in Penetanguishene, with the Youth League winners sponsored by Dentistry on Main beating out Scott's R & S Heating with a win of 6 - 2. In the Adult League, once again this year's Town Grill battled for the win defeating Dr. John Augimeri with their score of
2 - 0. It is with much gratitude that our club acknowledges the incredible support of our league sponsors this 2009 season: OPSEU, DENTISTRY ON MAIN, SCOTT'S R&S HEATING, GRAFFITI ART, DR. JOHN AUGIMERI, MCCARTHY, TOWN GRILL, and TOM MURRAY OF MIDLAND HONDA. The entire day was filled with the great aroma of hamburgers and hot dogs served up by Huronia Refreshments. Highlights included Huronia Soccer Club T- shirts given to all the youth members and winning adult league team; the presentation of awards for the winning youth team included most improved player, most valuable player and most valuable goalie. It was great to see friends and family comfortably camped out on the hill at Tom Coffin Park to watch the teams play for the last time this season. We are so lucky to have so many supporters who come out to cheer on the players. The rain held off, the players sweated it out all day trying to secure their positions, and the fragrant smell of soaked and sweaty knee socks, shoes, and shin pads could be inhaled for miles around!! It just doesn't get any better than that!! Awards, (and a pat on the back!) were presented to youth members on each team: Most valuable Player, Most Improved, and Top Goalie and were presented to OPSEU MVP: Thomas Brown Most Improved: Michael Lacroix Graffiti Art MVP: Duncan Lefaive-Woods Most Improved: Jerad Maurice Scott's R&S Heating MVP: Jesse Ledbetter Most Improved: Brittany Spicer Dentistry On Main MVP: Michael Walker Most Improved: Austin Martin Top Scorer: Nick Marrocco Top Goalie: Holly Diaz The club could not possibly put on such an event without the year round dedication and commitment from their volunteer board members who are: Rod Billenness - President, Dan Downey - Treasurer, Bill Van Rijn - Referee, Randy Hargrave - Secretary, Phil Stoesser - Youth League Coordinator, Dr. James Fahy - Discipline , Markus Baumann - Communications, and Debbie Diaz - Promotions and Fund Raising. Also to be thanked is Bryan Robillard and Mark Pinkney who floated the entire day to wherever they were needed, and the Referees who helped make the tournament seemless. We even had linesmen, (that's linesperson to Rebecca!) that day! Rod's organization of the tent and great food as well as Dan with the trophies and Phil with schedules, apparel and lots of paperwork all went off without a hitch, even the rain held off till the end....how'd they do that?! Big thanks to all the volunteer coaches who gave so much of themselves this year in support of the club and the members, making the experience for all fun and challenging. We left the players that day dreaming about the day in 2010 when the season gets outside and starts all over again! Our two
women's Over 22 travelling teams have 2 games left to play for the
season. These two teams had good success in keeping together and
playing all their games. They will celebrate their season with a team
BBQ. I was fortunate enough to be a coach on one of the travelling
women's teams along with Bradyn Parent. Bradyn put out 100% effort
which was clearly seen with the improvement and dedication of the girls
as the season progressed. The best was being able to practice beside our other O22 women's team at MSS. It's really rewarding to hear the girls speak
about rejoining the team next season. I look forward to seeing them as
a more experienced team then too.
I want to thank every team member for being so reliable and responsible especially notifying the coaches when you could not attend games. I want to express how proud Bradyn and myself are of these girls who played hard, but also kept it fun, even when we were on the road travelling to a very far away game in a huge thunderstorm!! Thanks for hanging in there and hope to see all of you next year! Debbie Diaz Friday, May 29

The 2005 playoffs produced a couple upsets as the Dock Lunch team built a perfect playoff record, winning all three of their round-robin games. Dock Lunch secured their spot in the championship game after winning their first two matches. The Sha-na-na's team used a win against McCarthy Rastin Kerr and a tie with Midland Honda to earn their spot in the championship game. Championship GameSha-na-na's took the lead as they scored in the final minute of play of the first half. Dock Lunch regrouped during half-time and came back with an early score in the second half. Two more goals by Dock Lunch would secure their 3-1 victory as they became the 2005 Huronia Soccer Club champions.
